• 10” All-Metal Sewing Bed – This machine is a quilting + sewing machine. They knew that you’d use it for big projects (even if its only sewing) so they provided you a big and flat sewing space with a 10” x 4” all-metal bed. This means maximum ease, comfort and control while sewing.
• Start/Stop Button – The start/stop button is a must have especially in case you are working on a big project that needs less tweaking and more sewing. You can use this button to have the control of this machine on your finger tip. Also, the favorite/default stitch setting means that whenever you want to work on your project, you can just switch on the machine and start working with your favorite settings.
• 170 Built-in Stitches – Now beat this. Unlike Janome 7730 and 1050, this big sewing + quilting machine has 170 built-in stitches. This number is way bigger than any Singer or Brother machine with similar specs and nature. Included in these 170 built-in stitches are 2 alphabets. Although I wished that with this big number of stitches, they offered at least 10 different alphabets.
• 1000 Stitches/Minute Maximum Speed – When it comes to the maximum sewing machine that you can achieve on this machine, that is 1000 stitches/minute. This speed is actually a proof that this is a 100% professional sewing and quilting machine, because the speed limit for professional sewing/quilting machine starts from roughly 800-850 stitches per minute.
• Memorized Needle Up/Down Position – Just like other Janome machines, this one also has the option for you to make the machine memorize the sewing needle up and down position. This means that machine will remember where you normally want the needle to end up whether it’s up or down and it would apply the same setting every time.
• Needle Threader – The manual and built-in needle threader makes it possible for you to thread the needle with one hand and in no time.
• 6 LEDs in 3 Locations – How about this one? Since this machine has a big sewing space, they sort of overkilled the sewing space illumination thing. However, we cannot say that more light is bad. There are 6 LEDs in 3 locations on this sewing and quilting machine; I bet that even with lights off you can flawlessly sew and quilt on this machine.
• Stitch Length and Width Adjustment – This machine also allows you to enjoy adjustable stitch length and width. In terms of stitch length, the maximum you can do is 5mm which is the same in most of the Janome machines, but in terms of width adjustment, this machine is better than likes of 1050 and 7730. The maximum stitch width on this thing is 9mm (compared with 7mm on the mentioned sewing machines).
• Big Control Panel with a Big LCD – Not only in terms of number of stitches and a few other features, but in terms of the LCD’s size and quality too, this machine is way better than 1050 and many other Janome machines. It has a big and bright and backlit LCD screen. The red colored control panel has many different buttons for settings, stitch selection, reverse sewing, cutting, locking and whatnot.
• Reverse Stitching – Speaking of reverse stitching, with a push on that button you can reverse stitch and thus reinforce the thread with reverse stitching. You can also use the same feature to stop a pattern before it ends.
• Speed Control – While the maximum speed that you can achieve on this machine is 1000 stitches/minute, you definitely do not have to sew at that speed. The speed is adjustable and a simple to use speed control on the front let you go from normal to fast to maximum speed.
• Locking Stitch Button – You do not have to use reverse stitching to reinforce the seams. You can press this button and the thread will be tied off then and there.
